Once an eTA is allowed for travel, passengers are allowed short periods of living in Canada, generally for a period of up to 6 months.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Who requires Electronic Ticket Authorization?<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\teTA is required for passengers who want to fly to or transit through an airport in Canada.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor the purpose of determining who would need the eTA, there is a categorization of passengers into 4:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tThose who need eTA\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThose who are eligible to apply for eTA\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThose can not apply for eTA, but have to carry other ID proofs\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThose who are exempt from eTA\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tThe people <strong>who need eTA<\/strong> are those foreign nationals who are exempt from Visa requirement and those who are permanent residents of US (must have Green Card to show).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe passengers who are <strong>eligible to apply for eTA<\/strong> are citizens from those countries where Canadian visa is required.
