AirAsia is the low cost carrier of Malaysia. It has a susidiary in India as well by the name of AirAsia India.
Its policies on baggage allowance are dependent on domestic and international flight routes and fare choices booked.
As a general rule, AirAsia does not provide free check-in baggage allowance. However, due to country specific regulations, it might be obliged to provide free allowances. Example is the case of India operations wherein it provides 15 kg free check-in baggage allowance for domestic flights. Further, if there are connections on your itinerary, the charge applicable for baggage will be calculated per sector. So, if there are two or more connections, fees of each of these sectors is to be added to arrive at total price. You can ask for these allowances and fees for any baggage in comments section below.
AirAsia India allows 1 check in bag of 15 kg as free allowance. Excess baggage charges at airport will be Rs 550 per excess kg. Additional piece of check-in bag will have charge of Rs 1000 per baggage.
If passengers have booked Value Pack, Premium Flex or Premium Flatbed fare choice tickets, then the baggage allowance is reflected in the tickets.
There is also a provision of opting for prices of pre-booked luggage. Savings can be as much as 50% of baggage costs if you upsize or supersize your luggage at least 4 hours before departure of flight. Upsizing baggage means pre-buying 5 kgs or in multiples thereof and Supersizing means buying 40 kgs of baggage in advance.
If two or more people are traveling together on same itinerary and check in together, then the allowance can be shared. However, there is a restriction on the size and weight of each bag. Each bag must not weigh more than 32 kgs and it shall not be more than 81 cm height, 119 cm width and 119 cm in depth.
Excess Baggage Charges
Please note that if the pre-paid baggage is not booked, then the excess baggage charges are to be paid at the airport only and the excess baggage would be limited to 15 kg only. Also, if the weight of the baggage exceeds the pre-booked one, the excess charges per kg of luggage are applied. This rate varies from destination to destination. If you are interested in knowing what these rates are, you are requested to put up your question in the comments section at the end of this page.

The firs slab of check in baggage which you can buy online is of 20 kg and when you buy at airport, it is of 15 kg weight. So, the cost is per slab of 20 kg or 15 kg.
From Chennai to KL- for online (after ticket is booked) it is Rs 5320, at airport for first 15 kg it is Rs 5400.
From KL to Taipei- for online it is MYR 312.2, at airport it is MYR 230.
There two are applicable since the charges are applicable per sector.

One thing is for sure that this battery would not be allowed in check in baggage. If this item is allowed to be carry in flight, for which we would request you to contact the local airline office, the battery will have to be removed, insulated and packed with each of terminals insulated. Then this battery is to be carried in cabin baggage. Now, this again will depend on how much weight is there in cabin luggage. So, we suggest you speak to airline local office.

In general, the individual dimensions of cabin bag are considered by AirAsia. However, some airlines are also okay with the sum of dimensions for cabin bag.
In effect, if you have some individual measurements of bag that do not conform to what are prescribed, you can still maintain a sum of dimension limit less than given limit and seek to take it in cabin. We have not met with any case wherein cabin bag was rejected due to individual dimensions not conforming to prescribed ones.
Let us futher add that we are not the airline but an independent website.

For international flights of AirAsia, there is no free check in baggage allowance. Therefore a minimum of 20 kg slab of weight needs to be bought. This costs Rs 1323 at the time of booking tickets and Rs 1470 when booked afterwards.
From KUL to Gold coast, 20 kg check in baggage would cost MYR 120 at the time of ticket booking and it turns up MYR 136.5 after ticket is booked.

So, a 20 kg bag would cost you about MYR 72 at the time of booking and if you decide to add later, it is going to cost you MYR 84. 1 cabin bag and 1 laptop bag of total weight 7 kg are allowed free per person. You will have to pay for the check-in baggage for each sector per person. So, there will be a charge on buying a minmum of 20 kg check in bag for Cochin to Malaysia and also for Malaysia to Melbourne. So, it will be INR 1323+MYR 120.8 for these two segments of flight.
