No check in luggage shall be more than 23 kg in weight and more than 158 cm in linear dimensions (L+B+H).
Over-weight Baggage Charges
For bags of weight more than 23 kg but less than 45 kg the charges are $75 per piece.
Over-sized Baggage Charges
For bags of size more than 158 cm linear dimensions but less than 292 cm, the charges are $75 per such piece.
Musical Instruments as Check In Baggage
Musical Instruments can either be carried in the carry-on luggage or in the check-in baggage.
Small musical instruments which can be placed safely in the stowage space on-board the planes are allowed to be carried as hand baggage. However, this must adhere to the standard dimensions of the carry-on luggage.
If large instruments are to be carried as carry-on baggage, then the passenger shall purchase a seat for the same. However, this is also subject to certain restrictions.
The cabin seat baggage can be taken in addition to the regular carry-on luggage and a personal item. Advance notice of the requirement of cabin baggage shall be given to the airline.
The size limit of carry-on luggage on Alaska Airlines is 22 inches ×14 inches× 9 inches (or, 56cm×36cm×23cm). This size limit will apply from June 8, 2018. The airlines allows download of a baggage tag after filling the form.
Certain items are also allowed as cabin baggage, such as paintings, fishing poles, small musical instruments, scientific instrument which need careful handling and art portfolios.
Personal items such as coats, umbrellas, food for consumption, reading material, child restraint seats, strollers, service animals, mobility assistive devices and medicines that are carried under prescription.
