The frequent flyer program of Virgin Australia is called Velocity. This loyalty rewards program is enables the frequent flyers to earn the points as well redeem these with Virgin Australia or its various partners.
Status Levels
It shall be remembered that not all fares are eligible for earning status credits. Know which fare classes can earn you these credits here. Status credits can be earned on eligible fares of Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, Delta Airlines, SilkAir, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Arlines, Virgin America, Virgin Samoa, airberlin, South African Airways, Alitalia and Hawaiian airlines.
Entry level status is called Red status.
Silver, Gold and Platinum Status follows thereafter.
Passengers can move up and down the status levels depending on how much points they are earning. Once a status level is attained, it remains so for a period of 12 months. Passengers shall earn suitable points to remain at that level, or, can have the retention points which enable them to remain at that level at the time of review. So, here are the points which one has to take to reach the next higher level followed the points which are required to retain the status-

Earning Status Credits
The scheme of earning the status credits was revised for flights from 30 January 2017. As per the new scheme, following are status credits to be earned:

Earning Points
Points can be earned on the flights of Virgin Australia and other partners. These are:
Credit Cards- These include Virgin co-branded cards with Virgin Money, American Express or NAB and the cards of partners.
Fuel- 2 velocity points to be earned on every dollar spent either by buying fuel upto 150 litres or buying at in-store up to $100. Check for the participating BP stations.
Flybuys- flybuys points can be transferred to Velocity Points at rate of 870 velocity points for every 2000 points. The upper limit is 138000 points in a calendar year.
