Qantas Airline has finalised the installation of a new Wi-Fi system on its planes which will improve customer experience. As airlines fight for the customer pie, it is pertinent that their requirements are met in flight. Using the Wi-Fi is one such requirement which Qantas will use to attract and retain the customers.

This new system will be free for all passengers. Qantas will also offer free email sending service, live streaming of sports and updating social media. The benefits of such a systems are not only for passengers but also for the pilots. They will remain updated on weather conditions, especially the turbulent air pockets. This will help in minimising risk and make air travel on Qantas safer than ever before.

The on-board Wi-Fi systems will also help in conducting the medical scans in the plane with reports being sent to the doctors on ground. This will help the flight crew to know whether the person is stable or the plane needs to be diverted to the nearest airport. As of now, the plane is generally routed to the nearest airport in case of perceived medical emergencies.

This system will also help in real-time assessment of flight conditions, especially whether there is a need for maintenance check or not.

Qantas-American Airlines to Promote Tasmania Tourism

Qantas has entered into a codeshare agreement with American Airlines to add Hobart as a tourist destination. Way back in 2013, Qantas also had a deal with Tasmania Tourism worth $ 4 bn to promote tourism in this interesting Tasmanian market. With the latest deal with AA, the flyers will be able to book tickets to Hobart on AA platforms. American Airlines has about 100 million frequent flyers, a resource which will be tapped to a good extent for boosting tourism to Tasmania.
