TripAdvisor, in its annual exercise to determine the most favored airline of India, has again reported IndiGo Airlines to be at the first position. Jet Airways is at no 2 position. IndiGo has emerged at the no 1 position for the third time in as many years and has increased the gap with number 2 Jet Airways from 6 percent to 8 percent in year on year percentage rankings.

TripAdvisor ratings are held sacrosanct by travelers around the world and its ratings and reviews of different travel products and service providers are used by travelers to make their travel plans.

The areas where IndiGo has scored over others are on-time performance, landing/take-off quality, check in process, time taken for baggage delivery, in-flight maintenance and value for money. It is also considered to be the safest airline to fly with. Although IndiGo has retained the number 1 position, there are many areas where there is a scope of improvement and where other airlines have overtaken it. For example, Jet Airways has scored over it in areas such as appearance of Cabin crew, quality of crew, comfortable seats, legroom, in-flight food, in-flight entertainment, on board internet connectivity and website experience.

Air India continues to remain at the bottom of league with people not finding it safe or reliable enough to travel. For this reason, it has remained the least favorite among the airlines and especially among the legacy carriers of India.

While this survey showcases what passengers feel about the airlines, it also provides valuable insights into where the airlines are lagging and what they need to do in order to change the negative perceptions of the people while continuing to retain the good things they like.
