Its Time to Fly To Cuba !

US to Havana Flights

After a year of restoring the diplomatic relations, US government has tentatively approved 8 airlines to fly to Cuba. A final decision is expected in summers. These airlines are American Airlines, United Continental, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Air, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Delta Airlines.

Number of Flights

USA to Havana Weekly Flight Schedule

Out of the total flights approved, American Airlines will fly the greatest number of 35 weekly flights. JetBlue will get to operate 27. Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the two cities having concentration of Caribbean-American people, are expected to get 83 flights in a week. Other cities which will be offering non-stop services to Havana are Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando and Tampa.

American Airlines Gets the Most

AA has got most routes in the process. As per the USA-Cuba agreement, there were to be 20 flights routes available for flights. Out of these 20 routes, AA has been allotted 5 routes. Theses include 4 daily flights from Miami and 1 from Charlotte international airport.

Southwest Airline has been awarded two daily flights from Fort Lauderdale and 1 daily flight from Tampa Bay.

Restrictions on Travel To Cuba

Despite the tentative route allotment for easy flight-based connectivity to this island country, there have been restrictions on travel to thsi country. If the visit falls under any one of the 12 below mentioned categories, these will be allowed. These categories are:

Family Visits Official US Govt Business, Foreign Govts and certain intergovernmental organizations Journalistic Activity
Professional research and meetings Educational activities Religious activities
Public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic competitions, other competitions and exhibitions Support for Cuban People Humanitarian Projects
Private foundations, research or educational institution activities Export-Import, transmission of information or material of information Specific export transactions that could be considered for authorization in future.

 

General tourism is still not permitted as a reason to travel to Cuba.
